We are dedicated to working collaboratively to explore areas of concern and help your child achieve their goals. We can help clarify diagnoses such as ADHD, autism, anxiety, depression, and learning disorders such as dyslexia.

The process of undergoing any type of testing or evaluation can be intimidating for children. Parents frequently ask what they can do to help prepare their child for an evaluation.

Our goal is to help your child feel comfortable with the process and know a little bit more about what to expect.

Here are some helpful conversation starters before your evaluation:

We want to know more about how your brain works!

Everyone has learning strengths and areas of growth, and it is important to learn what types of activities are easier for you, as well as what may be more challenging. (Feel free to share with your child your own personal strengths or weaknesses.)

We want to know more about how you think and feel about things.

It’s ok to feel sad, nervous, angry, or frustrated. Talking about thoughts and feelings is helpful and can help us find out the best way to support you.

During your appointments, you will be doing lots of different things.

Some activities will feel like games or puzzles and others may feel like quizzes that you would take in school. There are some computer-based tests and worksheets, where you will be asked to answer questions.

Nothing is “graded” like in school.

You may find some activities feel easy and some things will be more challenging. Just do your best.

You can ask questions or take a break at any time!

There are snacks and water in the office and a prize bin where you can choose a toy at the end of each session.

We want to ensure that your child understands that our office is a safe space to talk about their thoughts and emotions. The more that they can open up and share, the better we can establish areas of concern and identify the most appropriate supports and interventions.

We value the opportunity to work collaboratively with schools, clinics, and treatment providers who need to refer out for our services.

We work closely with physicians, psychologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, developmental optometrists, and speech-language pathologists (among others). We also partner with private schools, charter schools, and public schools who seek providers who offer private evaluations, independent educational evaluations (IEEs), and therapeutic services.

Our evaluations are timely, relevant, and actionable. We provide the final reports directly to the client, and clinician, if approval is provided. Every evaluation is accompanied by a comprehensive report that serves as a roadmap for treatment planning for the years ahead.
