Keeping Pace with Carlos
10-year-old Carlos was referred by his school to Psychology 360 due to academic concerns. Carlos was a talented athlete who excelled in a variety of sports. However, he was beginning to experience anxiety and a lack of confidence regarding his schoolwork. Teachers reported concerns regarding his academic skills in the classroom compared to his peers. Concerned that he would start to fall behind, Carlos’ parents enlisted the school’s help. Carlos began receiving individual support through his school’s resource center and tutoring services, along with frequently working one-on-one with his teacher in order to keep pace in class. Despite these supports, Carlos’ continued academic challenges prompted an evaluation at Psychology 360.
